Letter From Tia: Fall Reset
Hey Anser fam,
With #SweaterWeather in full swing and Halloween right around the corner, I’m in total Netflix and chill mode complete with pumpkin-flavored everything (has anyone tried the new apple macchiato one at Starbucks yet?) and delicious soups.
This year has been one for the books. Some highlights include:
- Celebrating my 43rd birthday during our family trip to Hawaii
- Cree turning 10 (which I still have a hard time believing)
- The Part 4 premiere of Netflix’s Family Reunion (which won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Children’s Program earlier this year)
- And the launch of Anser at Target
Now it’s time to switch things up and relax into fall. Here’s how I’ll be resetting my routine:
Surrounding myself with candles. There’s just nothing like lighting a candle on a crisp fall day. Ones I’m loving include Black Girl Magic and But First, Pumpkin from Black woman-owned company Posh Candle Co.
Curling up with a good book. I love a good rom-com just like the next girl, which is why I’m excited to dive into my fall reading list with The Bennet Women by Eden Appiah-Kubi, a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice and Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen about a Black woman with a plan to “have it all.” Sounds right up my alley!
Adjusting my health routine. Shorter days means less daylight, which calls for more melatonin. While our Restful Sleep is good yearound, it especially comes in handy when adjusting to the seasonal time change.
And here’s a bit of what I’m looking forward to this fall. My latest cookbook, The Quick Fix Kitchen, is out now and features 65 easy, delicious, and healthy recipes the entire family will love. Also, my new Lifetime Christmas movie, Miracle in Motor City, drops Nov. 28. More to come, but you can check out some fun behind-the-scenes footage here! I can’t wait for you all to see it, the holidays will be here before we know it!
